Dossier... José Carmona, dancer with Andalusian roots, born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, is known artistically as "Rapico". His love for flamenco was born so small, that he barely held himself to walk, with only 3 years he found his best way to express himself at the dance, his grandmother slept him singing a “soleá” for him. His best memories since childhood, have always been surrounded by experiences and flamenco parties that have awakened in him, a deep respect and admiration for this art that has become his way of feeling, living and being. With just 4 years old, he was step on his first dance school in his homeland, although his greatest learning has been at home, surrounded by the family since they are great fans of singing guitar and dancing. Great flamenco figures such as José Luis Ponce, Conchita del Mar, Juan Flores "El Duende" and Carmeta have been their teachers on the island. They were training this young dancer from an early age. In his homeland throughout his teens he has been cheered for his creations. "The dream of a dancer", was premier in the great Auditorium of Palma, had to be extended for several days at the request of the public. On the other hand, his show "With our soniquete", staged for the public in the Parque del Mar, was chosen as one of the best shows of the Music Festival of Palma de Mallorca. With only 16 years he already had two humble creations behind him, which would lead him to be the best exponent for the flamenco scene outside his homeland. Throughout the years he was residing in Mallorca, he came to work for great characters like a Michael Douglas, hired to work in his own home and very emblematic sites such as the Grand Casino and Bellver Castle. Very young he left the island l proudly raising the representation of Palma de Mallorca for more than a decade by the largest theaters in Spain and the world. His restless personality leads him to have behind him the assembly of several shows of his own. The last one, called “Rapikeando”, was premiered with great success at the Teatro Real in Madrid in June this year. Before, it was "Errante", premiered with great success and all locations sold in the prestigious "Flamenco Festival of Torrelodones", in November 2016 and then replaced in June 2018 at the Circle of Fine Arts in Madrid, within the Festival Las Minas Flamenco Tour. Among the most recent presentations, there is the closing of the “La Silla de oro” Cante Festival in Madrid, as a guest artist with his company, as well as in the Madrid Cante Festival 2019, of Tres Cantos.
